MY APPrOACH
Sleep issues with babies and children are almost inevitable and are also completely natural.
As a sleep consultant, my role involves uncovering the root causes of sleep problems and tailoring techniques to each family's unique needs. My methods are safe, certified, and fully researched, ensuring that parents feel comfortable with every step of the process. What sets my approach apart is the bespoke nature of my plans—I often blend various techniques to create a solution specific to each child, as one size does not fit all.
I often liken my job to that of a detective. Before devising a solution, it is crucial to pinpoint when and why the sleep issue began. To do this, I gather comprehensive background information, including recent changes like moving house, new nursery or school, holidays, health issues, diet, current schedule, sleep environment, sibling dynamics, family relationships, child’s temperament, and parenting approaches and expectations. This thorough understanding allows me to craft a highly personalized plan that places the child at the center.
Believe me I know how hard it is to make a change and when it’s 2am and you’re half asleep we will nearly always choose the quickest and easiest method to get our child back to sleep but often the path of least resistance can cause problems down the road. We believe our child is so used to certain conditions that it would be impossible to change them. Often it is our own insecurities or concerns as a parent that stop us from making a change. My goal is to empower you with the understanding and confidence needed to overcome these sleep challenges and also to be able to interpret and solve sleep issues down the road. Once you feel empowered to solve sleep problems within your family the reward will last a lifetime. Getting the right amount of quality sleep means a happy, healthy, well rested, eager and inquisitive child and a much more harmonious family life.
My methods are holistic and gentle, focusing on root causes and external factors. Sometimes, optimizing the sleep environment or adapting your child’s routine can have a significant impact. If new methods are needed, they will be introduced gradually, with constant reassurance to your child. It is vital that your child feels secure and never abandoned. Tears of frustration are natural, but with your support, your child will adapt to the new routine.
I incorporate other holistic therapies into the sleep plan, such as nutrition, aromatherapy, homeopathy, and meditation for kids, as these can all contribute to positive sleep practices. I pride myself on offering comprehensive support, guiding you every step of the way until the problem is resolved.
